MISSION STATEMENT

We are here to help you create the MEMORIES you will talk about FOREVER

BEGINNING of RVing

During the 1970s my Mom, brother, sister, and I went on many road trips with my Grandma in tow visiting relatives in the mid-west.  My Mom also took us on road trips to visit her friends in Kansas City, MO.  We were used to traveling long distances in a vehicle.  We never stayed in motels or hotels.  We always stayed with family or friends.

When I was 13 my Mom had been widowed for 9 years.  My Grandma had passed away the year before.  My Mom saw that my younger brother, younger sister, and I were getting older and she wanted to spend more time with us.  So she went out and bought a Class C Motorhome for us to spend time in as a family away from the everyday distractions.

During the demonstration on how to use the Class C, my Mom instructed my brother who was only 11 at the time to pay attention.  So yes he became the designated DUMPER.  (You RVers know what I am talking about.)

We didn’t go far in the beginning and camped close by on the Missouri River.  Then my Aunt and Uncle informed my Mom that my cousin was moving back to San Diego, CA where her husband used to be stationed in the Navy.  They were thinking of moving out there also and wanted to know if my Mom would take them to San Diego in her Class C to see if they liked it.  So, all three headed to San Diego, CA from Omaha, NE in our Class C Motorhome.

My Mom fell in love with San Diego and decided to move there also.  Once our belongings were packed up in a moving van we headed to San Diego the next day.  My Mom, my other Aunt, my brother, sister, and I traveled and camped our way to CA from NE in our Class C Motorhome. We each had specified sleeping areas and tasks along the way that strengthened our family unity.  My Aunt loved RVing so much she later flew out to San Diego and took another trip with us in the RV to Lake Tahoe.

It was an awesome trip and adventure for our family.  I still remember a guy at a gas station giving my Mom directions for a short cut through the Rocky Mountains; only problem was she was afraid of heights.  Her knuckles were white as she navigated us through the short cut with no guard rails up and then down a mountain.  You could hear a pin drop in that motorhome, we didn’t dare make a sound.

I am awed at the COURAGE my Mom had to not only buy a motorhome, but also travel so far in it.  That was unheard of for a woman to do by herself in the 1970s.   My Mom’s adventures in RVing started a legacy of strengthening the BOND of our FAMILIES and creating MEMORIES we will talk about FOREVER…  Her legacy has passed down two generations so far.
